Yep. BBQ & Chili is one of the very few healthy perks in the game, because it rewards hooks and leaving the hook after getting someone. That way more people get chases which are the fun part of the game. There also is a lot of counterplay and hiding behind gens does work decently in my experience.

BBQ doesn't give you more BP during match. However, in the end of the game, it multiplies your BP. If you got 15K during a match, you will get 22.5K with level 1 BBQ. The BP that is shown in the screen that shows all 5 players' info is your base BP (pre-BBQ), it doesn't change. To learn extra BP you got, look at the first page in menu in the end.
